One to Watch at UFC Boston: Sean Woodson

Sean “The Sniper” Woodson (6-0) will be the UFC’s tallest Featherweight ever at an astronomical 6’3. Woodson will break the record set by Dan Hooker (6’1) when he debuts at UFC Boston on Friday.

Sean Woodson’s Dad was the driving inspiration behind his fighting career. Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, his father would watch the fights with Sean and developed a passion for boxing in the young gun. Woodson’s first taste of combat was amateur boxing. Back then he weighed in at 200 plus pounds on fight night. His father passed prematurely but Sean’s last words to him were, “I will be a champion.”

Woodson totaled upwards of 45 amateur fights and won boxing’s coveted Golden Gloves competition at Light Heavyweight! The champ boxer then turned to MMA to earn more gold. “The Sniper” dropped down to Welterweight (170 lbs.) and utilized the boxing acumen to reel off two straight finishes in round one to start his pro career.

He then dropped all the way to 145 and a couple of dominant decision wins scored Sean Woodson a Contender Series shot where he halted Terrence McKinney in round two with a ferocious flying knee. The walk-off knockout is possibly the best of all-time on the show and Dana White had the UFC contract ready to sign when he exited the cage.

Woodson took that fight on only five days’ notice but will have a full camp going into UFC Boston. He takes on the tough as nails brawler Kyle Bochniak (8-4) and it all goes down Friday, October 18th!
