One to Watch at UFC Tampa: Miguel Baeza

Miguel “Caramel Thunder” Baeza fights out of Miami, Florida and is bringing the family to UFC Tampa, where he makes his octagon debut! The welterweight is undefeated at 7-0 with five KO/TKO’s, four in the first frame. Baeza is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but his bread and butter is the power-punching game learned from his uncle.

Miguel Baeza was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was introduced to boxing by his Uncle who fought in the amateur ranks. Born into a proud Puerto Rican family, they would congregate every fight night for a BBQ and Pay Per View Boxing. After the fights, Miguel and his brothers would follow their Uncle out back for some boxing lessons.

Baeza took to stand up first, but everything changed when he saw Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar destroying each other on live cable TV. He put down the gloves and picked up the gi, opting for the all-around combat of MMA.

Now training at MMA Masters with UFC veteran Ricardo Lamas, Miguel Baeza is sprinting through every competitor. “Caramel Thunder” standing at 6’2 somehow started professional MMA at Lightweight (155 lbs.) but now competes at Welterweight (170). The results have simply stayed the same at both weights and now Miguel Baeza looks to earn the biggest win of his career Saturday, October 12th. He squares off against Hector Aldana (4-2) at UFC Tampa!
