One to Watch at UFC Vegas 58: Saidyokub Kakhramonov

Saidyokub Kakhramonov (9-2) is an emerging prospect who rides a three-fight stoppage streak following an impressive octagon debut. Eleven months later, the 26-year-old is back at the Apex Center in Las Vegas. He takes on fellow young gun Ronnie Lawrence (9-1) who has not lost in the octagon either in a Bantamweight battle going down at UFC Vegas 58.

Saidyokub or Said was born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan back in 1995. However, He and his family relocated soon after his birth to Brooklyn, New York. He spent his adolescence in the borough until moving out to wrestling haven Iowa, Iowa Falls in particular and Ellsworth Community College. Upon graduating, Kakhramonov transitioned to MMA and won his first eight contests (3 amateur, 5 pro) until suffering a well-aged loss to Umar Nurmagomedov (15-0) who looks like a future UFC champion at 135 lbs. in that fight he scored a knockdown and won a round, giving the best account of himself I’ve seen against the tough Dagestani.

After two highlight-reel knockouts, the UFC brass brought him into the octagon. He came in a slight underdog to Trevin Jones (13-7) but made bettors happy in R3 with a slick submission. On Saturday he fights in an intriguing bout that will dictate the future of the stacked Bantamweight division at UFC Vegas 58: Dos Anjos vs. Fiziev.
