Armen Petrosyan (6-1) made his name in Muay Thai but now debuts at UFC Vegas 49 after a crushing Contender Series KO. The former Russian and IFMA World Champion has finished all six wins by knockout or TKO. He is the former Fight Nights Global Light Heavyweight champ but will make his octagon debut down 20 lbs. at Middleweight for UFC Vegas 49: Makhachev vs. Green.
Armen was born in Krasnoyarsk, Russia back in 1990. The 31-year-old’s martial arts background emanates mainly from Muay Thai but is accomplished in kickboxing and karate as well. To round out his skills “Superman” returned to his family’s roots in Armenia and teamed up with Universal fighters. Additionally, he recognized a wrestling-sized hole in his game in his first few fights and sided with Academy MMA in Dagestan, the unofficial World capital of wrestling.
After a highlight-reel finish in Dana White’s Contender Series, his star shot up like Halley’s Comet. But he still can’t get a better Google search rating than famed Armenian-Italian One Championship kickboxer Armen Petrosyan. Even crazier… they both compete at Middleweight now, however fighting in different disciplines so don’t get em’ twisted! On Saturday, 2/26, Gregory Rodrigues (11-3) thinks he has the skills to stop “Superman’s” two-fight win streak and earn his third octagon win. It’s the first fight on the main card of UFC Vegas 49, and it all goes down at 7 PM ET.
