Best Fighters Outside The UFC: Losene Keita

Losene Keita (12-1) is Oktagon MMA’s double champion at Feather and Lightweight. “Black Panther” has eight finishes and an unfortunate injury brought about his only loss. His next fight just got announced, an exciting matchup versus former Cage Warriors champ Agy “The Wolverine” Sardari (17-4) on May 4.

Losene was born in 1997 in the capital of Guinea, Conakry. He moved to Belgium at age 11 and now fights out of Kortrijk, West Flanders Province with Lamiro Fight Club. Keita grew up fighting in the streets and went to prison for his indiscretions. After multiple stints locked up, a stranger noticed his street skills and invited him to an MMA gym. He was reluctant at first because he didn’t know anything about martial arts and he and his family grew up playing soccer and basketball.

He decided to venture out of his comfort zone and two months into training he took his first amateur fight. Following an undefeated amateur career, Keita turned pro in 2016 at age 21. He ran through the ranks of prospect Welterweights then Lightweights and captured Oktagon’s LW belt in 2022 then the Featherweight strap in 2023. He tasted his first and only adversity when he broke his leg in round one defending the belt but still found the strength to get on a knee and propose to his girlfriend post-fight in the Oktagon.

Losene has arguably become Oktagon’s most famous fighter in just three years. He has notoriously declined the UFC three times and the PFL because he feels more at home with Oktagon MMA, a rapidly growing European promotion. His bout vs. Sardari just got added as the last matchup in Tipsport Gamechanger’s Lightweight Tournament. Which puts 16 fighters in a 4-round tournament for a chance at one million Euros. It all starts for Keita on May 4 at Oktagon 57.
