Best Fighters Outside The UFC: Akbar Abdullaev

Akbar Abdullaev (11-0) is a top prospect in Asia currently. He has finished every single fight so far. That includes three most recently in One Championship, Asia’s top MMA organization. The 26-year-old phenom surely has a bright future ahead of him.

Akbar Abdullaev was born in 1997 in Mady, in the Osh Region of Kyrgyzstan. It’s a small village of about 3,000 people located in the southern region of the country near Uzbekistan. Akbar still calls it home and trains out of Al Munar FC in Osh.

“Bakal” has a background in Muay Thai, learned at one of the World’s top gyms, Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand. Across eleven fights, he has nine finishes in round one (8 KO/TKO’s and 1 SUB). Although he finishes almost all fights from his fists, the grappling game of “Bakal” is also exceptional. He can find takedowns through his wrestling and judo. “Bakal’s” jiu-jitsu game is alive too but usually elects to finish fights via ground and pound.

In 2023, Akbar took his undefeated talents to ONE Championship. It was a big step up in competition for Abdullaev but so far, so good. Three fights, three finishes, and two over undefeated prospects. The 26-year-old has time on his side but his game is one we could definitely see in the UFC in the future…
