One to Watch in the Strawweight Division

Tatiana “Female Khabib” Suarez | 8-0 | 5’5 115 lbs. | Age 27 | Reach 67” | Orthodox Stance |

No verified video of her wrestling bears, but Tatiana Suarez’ wrestling dominance has MMA fans now calling her “The Female Khabib”. The nickname isn’t official yet but her skill on the ground is unquestioned in 4 UFC fights, averaging 7.5 takedowns per fight and two round 1 submissions (first female fighter to secure D’Arce choke in UFC).

Tatiana’s story is incredible, she was a phenom freestyle wrestler with Olympic dreams for London 2012. However, while preparing for her chance on the world stage, she was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer and forced away from the sport she loved.

Suarez KO’d cancer in the first round and then looked for a new challenge in MMA. Fighting out of Rancho Cucamonga, California with Millennia MMA, Tatiana subsequently went 12-0 as a pro and amateur overall. On the way, she conquered the Ultimate Fighter, 4-0 with three chokes in the competition, including the first D’Arce choke by a female UFC fighter.

Tatiana passed her toughest test with flying colors vs Carla Esparza September of 2018. Against the former Strawweight Champion, Suarez compiled 81 significant strikes, 8 takedowns and over 12 minutes of top control across three rounds. This performance vaulted into the top five at 115 and put everyone on notice that Suarez can be “Khabib-esque” against the best the division has to offer.
