Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski | 18-1 | 5’6 145 lbs. | Age 30 | Reach 71” | Orthodox Stance | Windang, New South Wales, Australia

Fighting out of Windang, New South Wales, Australia, Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski has the UFC’s Featherweight division’s attention after going 5-0 in his first five fights. The Aussie of Greek and Macedonian decent is a former rugby player who used to play at a weight of 210 lbs. Now at a slim 145, he’s mauling everybody the UFC throws at him.
Volkanovski left rugby behind after he was awarded a scholarship at the famed Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand. Coming into the UFC, he never faced a fighter with a losing record and that experience against strong competition is showing in the octagon. His two recent fights are his most impressive, wins over then undefeated Jeremy Kennedy (R2 TKO) and a month ago over 10th ranked Darren Elkins (U DEC).
Alexander “The Great” doesn’t have a fight scheduled in 2018 at the moment, but an Adelaide card in December could look enticing for him. Two great matchups (not necessarily Volkanovski) are #9 Mirsad Bektic and #5 Chad Mendes, two wrestlers who’d test the Aussie mightily.
