Tatsuro Taira (10-0) is a 22-year-old Flyweight born and fighting out of Naha, Okinawa, Japan. He has spent his entire MMA career with Team Paraestra in Okinawa and has fought to the tune of 19-0 across amateur and professional fights. “Supernova’s” speedy ground game is his claim to fame and a lot of 125-pounders will tap to Taira if he can impose himself in the octagon.
The UFC adds him to an emerging and exciting flyweight division and his first fight will be against contender series veteran Carlos “The Cannon” Candelario (8-1). He is the only fighter to lose in front of Dana White but earn a contract on the same night. Candelario impressed with his toughness and guile but Taira looks to have a big advantage on the mat with his six round one submissions. It’s the first fight at UFC Vegas 53: Font vs. Vera and could definitely feature some bright fireworks. It all goes down Saturday, 4/30, at 7 PM ET.
Tatsuro “Supernova” Taira | 10-0 | 5’7 125 lbs. | Age 22 | Reach 70” | Orthodox Stance | Fighting Out of Naha, Okinawa, Japan
