One to Watch at UFC Vegas 40: Brandon Davis

Brandon Davis (14-8) looks to make good on his second UFC opportunity. “Killer B” earned his octagon return off the back of four straight victories. The 31-year-old Bantamweight lines up Mongolian Native Danaa “Storm” Batgerel (9-2) for some good old retribution at UFC Vegas 40.

Brandon Davis was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1990. He relocated to small-town Fulton, Mississippi where he attended Itawamba CC and earned an AA in Athletic Training. Davis then drove an hour and change south, transferring to Mississippi State where he graduated with a Biological Science degree. But more importantly, found MMA and began training during his last years of school.

Brandon now with degrees in both hands decided to double down on his newfound passion. He left the school stuff behind and took his first fight just four months after starting training. He won that bout by TKO-Doctor Stoppage and fought to a 6-2 amateur record before turning pro.

Brandon earned a 2017 Contender Series shot, won that by decision then battled to a 2-5 UFC record fighting some truly tough competition like Zabit Magomedsharipov and Giga Chikadze. After being cut, Davis dropped ten pounds to 135 and won four straight, two by finish. He’s now a new man at Bantamweight (with a new mullet to boot) and I am very intrigued to see how much his skill set has improved.
