Nassourdine “The Russian Sniper” Imavov (8-2) has Contender Series victor Jordan Williams (9-3) lined up in his scope Saturday, 1/3, at UFC Fight Island 4. The 24-year-old Imavov was set for a Contender Series bout, but his chance to impress got bumped to October. He last fought in 2019 at a catchweight of 176 lbs., now 10 months later and nine pounds heavier.
Imavov began MMA just four years ago but has experience at both Middleweight and Welterweight. He was born in Dagestan, Russia but moved to Paris, France in 2004 and speaks both Russian and French fluently. Nassourdine got his first taste of fighting through his brother Daguir, four years his elder, and also a pro fighter (12-3-1). Years later, he found MMA through boxing, saying he appreciates ”more freedom to express myself” (via ARES FC).
Presently, Imavov trains with Fernand Lopez at MMA Factory in Paris. Lopez also coaches UFC Heavyweight contenders Francis Ngannou (15-3)and Ciryl Gane (6-0), having extremely successful results in the octagon. If Nassourdine regularly trains with two of the best 265 pounders, he’s going to be more than ready to battle smaller than average Middleweight Jordan Williams. “The Russian Sniper” will own a three-inch height advantage when he steps in the cage Saturday, 10/3, at UFC Fight Island 4.
