UFC Futures: Khusein “Lion” Askhabov

Khusein “Lion” Askhabov (20-0) holds the third-longest active undefeated streak in MMA. The company he holds tells you about his skill level, only trailing UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0) and Bellator star prospect Yaroslav Amosov (23-0).

Khusein Askhabov was born in a tiny European country sandwiched between France and Germany, Luxembourg. Now representing The Chechen Republic, he calls Grozny, Russia his home base. Khusein has an older brother, Khasan (20-2), who is a double champ at 155 and 145 lbs. in Moldovan promotion WWFC. They both started MMA in 2012 (remember the Mayans) and although Khasan has one more strap than Khusein, the younger brother still has the unblemished record.

“Lion” predominantly fights out of Akhmat Fight Club in Grozny but now splits his time between the famed Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand and Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, CA. The world of MMA knowledge is surely paying off for Askhabov, 13 of 20 wins by stoppage, nine in round one!

The WWFC Bantamweight champion currently has no fight scheduled. Hopefully a sign the UFC is in negotiations with the 25-year-old. I have a feeling Dana White has an “Askhabov” folder on his desktop…
