Herbert “The Blaze” Burns (10-2) aims to extend the Burns family beatdown another week, following brother Gilbert’s footsteps into UFC 250. He’s already 1-0 in the octagon from a “Performance of the Night” jump knee finish over Nate “The Train” Landwehr. This Saturday, Burns takes a short-notice fight at catchweight (150 lbs.) versus Evan Dunham (18-8-1).
Burns grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with brother Gilbert where they became Jiu-Jitsu phenoms. The multiple time nogi champ in Brazil then ventured to Asia where he found his MMA game. Burns debuted in One Championship in his second pro fight, taking just 44 seconds to submit Edward Kelly (then 5-0).
Herbert Burns faced TOUGH competition rising through the ranks of One, defeating former champ Honorio Banario and Eddie Alvarez vanquisher, Timofey Nastyukhin. His only two defeats coming at the hands of opponents with a combined record of 18-1 at fight time.
Looking to get back into the win column, Herbert flew to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to train with his brother and Henry Hooft at Hard Knocks 365. The move paid off in full, Burns got back to winning in Titan FC and earned a UFC Contender Series fight. With his 6th submission inside one round, Herbert was awarded a UFC contract and debuted in January with the jump knee KO earning his $50k bonus.
Herbie is fully loaded to take on Evan Dunham (18-8-1) Saturday in Las Vegas at the Apex. Dunham is 38 and coming off a two-year layoff so this could be a great fight to bet big. Catch “The Blaze” Saturday, June 6, at UFC 250!
